I recently attended a weeklong queer comics workshop at the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont, led by VT Poet Laureate and kind, talented human Tillie Walden. Here are several of the comics that I created during the week. The page of postcards was my response to the challenge, “draw your entire life in one page.” I’ve moved a lot in my life, and each of these postcards represents a town or city that I’ve lived in, with the exceptions of the two postcards towards the bottom: Gambier, Ohio and Edinburgh, Scotland—two places I’ll be living in over the course of the next two years (I will be teaching at Kenyon College and my partner will be working at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh). The three black and white comics that follow the postcards are a mini-sci-fi comic.
